According to the Quran, only Muhammad had the truth.

"He it is Who hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture wherein are clear revelations - they are the substance of the Book - and others (which are) allegorical. But those in whose hearts is doubt pursue, forsooth, that which is allegorical seeking (to cause) dissension by seeking to explain it. None knoweth its explanation save Allah. And those who are of sound instruction say: We believe therein; the whole is from our Lord; but only men of understanding really heed."

-Quran 3:7

According to the Quran, people had to obey Allah AND the messenger, in other words, Muhammad.

"Say: Obey Allah and the messenger. But if they turn away, lo! Allah loveth not the disbelievers."

-Quran 3:32

"Whoso obeyeth Allah and the messenger, they are with those unto whom Allah hath shown favour, of the prophets and the saints and the martyrs and the righteous. The best of company are they!"

-Quran 4:69

"They ask thee (O Muhammad) of the spoils of war. Say: The spoils of war belong to Allah and the messenger, so keep your duty to Allah, and adjust the matter of your difference, and obey Allah and His messenger, if ye are (true) believers."

-Quran 8:1

Allah is equated with Muhammad.

"O ye who believe! Obey Allah and His messenger, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak)."

-Quran 8:20

"Whoso obeyeth the messenger hath obeyed Allah, and whoso turneth away: We have not sent thee as a warder over them."

-Quran 4:80

Muhammad is equated with Allah in his authority.

"And it becometh not a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His messenger have decided an affair (for them), that they should (after that) claim any say in their affair; and whoso is rebellious to Allah and His messenger, he verily goeth astray in error manifest."

-Quran 33:36

"That which Allah giveth as spoil unto His messenger from the people of the townships, it is for Allah and His messenger and for the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, that it become not a commodity between the rich among you. And whatsoever the messenger giveth you, take it. And whatsoever he forbiddeth, abstain (from it). And keep your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is stern in reprisal."

-Quran 59:7

"We sent no messenger save that he should be obeyed by Allah's leave. And if, when they had wronged themselves, they had but come unto thee and asked forgiveness of Allah, and asked forgiveness of the messenger, they would have found Allah Forgiving, Merciful. But nay, by thy Lord, they will not believe (in truth) until they make thee judge of what is in dispute between them and find within themselves no dislike of that which thou decidest, and submit with full submission."

-Quran 4:64-65

"O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the messenger and those of you who are in authority; and if ye have a dispute concerning any matter, refer it to Allah and the messenger if ye are (in truth) believers in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and more seemly in the end."

-Quran 4:59

Only Muhammad can explain Allah's message in the Quran.

"With clear proofs and writings; and We have revealed unto thee the Remembrance that thou mayst explain to mankind that which hath been revealed for them, and that haply they may reflect."

-Quran 16:44

"And We have revealed the Scripture unto thee only that thou mayst explain unto them that wherein they differ, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe."

-Quran 16:64

Therefore, according to the Quran, only Muhammad can do the following:

1. Explain Allah through to the Quran.

2. Teach about Allah through the Quran.

3. Be the authority of Allah through the Quran.

4. Deliver the words of Allah through the Quran.

5. Possess the truth of Allah through the Quran.

6. Reveal God's word through the Quran.

Allah's revelation of the Quran depends solely on Muhammad. Thus, Allah cannot do anything on his own, but that which Muhammad says he does.

Without Muhammad, Allah can do nothing on his own. The Quran can be summarized by the following:

"By himself, Allah can do nothing. Allah seeks to please not himself, but him who reveals Allah."
