World's oldest tree kangaroo dies at Miami zoo

Zoo Miami released a statement on Wedesday saying that the world's oldest tree kangaroo has died.

The zoo's resident Matchie's tree kangaroo Patty was 27 years old when she lost her appetite, leading to significant weight loss caused by her "extremely advanced age" according to the statement.

Patty has lived at Zoo Miami since 1989 when she was transferred from her birthplace at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, South Carolina.

Patty became the oldest tree kangaroo in recorded history on Oct. 12, 2015 when she reached 27 years, 2 months and 12 days of age.
